Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. History
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women
at Howard University. Our illustrious founders were dedicated to improving the lives of African-American people by fighting
for civil rights, helping to give direction to the youth, finding solutions to end economic strife, and reevaluating and implementing
family values. Since the inception in 1913, the light of DST continues to transcend with a sisterhood of more than 200,000
predominantly Black college educated women throughout 900 chapters located in the U.S., England, Japan, Germany, the Virgin
Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea.
